CREPE CITY 13 ROUND UP

Last weekend saw the return of the UKs largest sneaker festival to East London, and it did not fail to impress! This is actually the first Crepe City event I have been to in a while, but with the debut of the Crepe City Boutique area, I knew I had to go and check it out.

The first thing that struck me initially was the real sense of community at the Old Truman Brewery. Everyone was on positive vibes and despite the hot and sticky atmosphere and big queues, everyone was set to have a good day!

So my first stop, was obviously the Crepe City Boutique. I think its absolutely awesome this event has evolved to incorporate an exclusively women's area! This is a huge step forward for female sneakerheads since my last Crepe City experience, where we have kind of had to loot out the stalls amongst the madness! I also think this perfectly represents how the unisex trend is booming and how popular this scene has now become amongst females. Jess, of Small Feet Big Kicks and I were interviewed by 'M about Town' on the day and throughout that we expressed how awesome it is that there seems to be a real interest boom for females into trainers. I will link the interview when it's live so you can all see! Plus there was loads going on at this event for the ladies - even a pop up hair braid salon by Keash Braids!

 

As always SFBK provided the best and biggest range of awesome kicks in small sizes! There were loads of brands within the boutique focusing on the unisex streetwear trend, including Bill & Mar, Thfkdlf, SHADE London, Daisy Knights, and other smaller but still impressive stalls! I loved the focus on the creative side at this event too, more so than I've seen at any other event like this. There were cardboard made kicks, trainer illustrations, and 'Air Wax' candles by Cracked Hatchet and Helen Hale, it was awesome! Check out some of them below!

Other rooms at the event included The Basement, with a focus on current deadstock streetwear like Supreme, Palace, and other smaller labels. There was also a room brimming with rare trainers, I was fully in my element! One particular stall, run by Josh Cole, a collector of trainers for over 20 years and a big name in the game! He was actually at the event selling his own personal collection and the gems amongst his stall were many! Another cool part of the event was the YR Store area, where you can customise 'Crepe City' t-shirts and have them printed within minutes! Was good seeing this lot being involved in this event! One of my favourite stalls at the event was run by Tommy Bates, an illustrator who has kitted out our favourite cartoon family and friends in to streetwear kings! I picked up a few pieces from his stall was so impressed! 

Crepe City also provided the unveiling and first look at The Orion and AKIO Footwear's entire AW15 collection. I was so impressed with AKIO footwear; the simplicity, minimalistic approach, quality and attention to detail of this brand produced an absolutely timeless product. There was also displays showing upcoming releases from the likes of PUMA, Diadora, Stance Socks and even a Jason Markk cleaning booth! There was so much going on at this event, it really goes beyond the scope of a blog post! This was another massive success for the Crepe City team and we're already excited for the next one. My only advice is to get to the next event if you can, Crepe City are only going to continue to get bigger and better!
